In conversation with a CLC leader, Sabawi stated that although he identifies as a Christian and personally pro-life, he believes that it would be wrong to change the law to prohibit a woman from committing an abortion because, in his view, that would represent "forcing" religious beliefs on her. He also believes that a child in the womb is not a human being throughout the entire pregnancy and doesn't have a soul until some later stage. He had difficulty defining what moment in the fetal development timeline that would be, nor could he identify the source of that unusual notion. On a more positive note, he said he'd be willing to support measures to promote adoption.

It is notable that Sabawy ran for the Liberal Party of Canada's nomination in the 2015 federal election, praised Justin Trudeau, and criticized then-Conservative Leader Stephen Harper.
